Summary

The material handler position performs all tasks involved in the packaging and moving of material to fulfill and ship orders. This includes Shipping and Receiving of material, packaging, picking, packaging of orders and other duties as assigned. This position is also responsible for final inspection of the packed product with regards to quality and the goal of increased efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete reports for management review based on productivity standards and GMP’s.
• Promote a learning environment to advance skills in production.
• Training employees to company standards.
• Assign work in the most efficient way possible.
• Address customer complaints and resolve issues which arrive.
• Must be capable of working with little direction given.
• Examine and inspect materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met.
• Pick and pack materials against the Packing List or Bills of Materials.
• Measure, weigh, and count products and materials against the Packing List or Bills of Material to ensure correct goods and quantities will be shipped to the customer.
• Record product, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records i.e., mark and label products using designated marking tools and systems.
• Stack finished goods on pallets for shipping which includes wrapping loaded pallets among other tasks.
• Scan items into the ERP system that are being shipped.
• Final inspection of finished product prior to shipping i.e., damage free and presentation to the customer.
• Escalate any areas of concern for defective products or materials to the Production Lead or Management prior to removing damaged items from shipping.
• Operate forklift and powered hand carts to stage and or transport the packed order to the designated racks/shelving area.
• Load and unload trucks with products.
• Follow safety & quality standards and comply with all procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Maintain work area to good manufacturing practice standards to assure the area is well maintained.
• Optimize space utilization.
• Must be able to work cohesively within a team environment and on cross-functional projects as assigned i.e., Safety Committee, Inventory or Plant specific projects.
• Maintain open lines of communication within company structure.
• Other duties assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalence
• 5 years of manufacturing or warehouse experience
• 6 months of forklift/tow motor experience
• 1 year of lead experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
• Must have basic computer skills to perform the administrative aspects of the position i.e., ERP System entries, label printing, etc.
• Must be able to use basic math i.e., adding, subtracting, multiply and dividing.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and will require the use of proper PPE provided by the Company.

The ability to make sound decisions and actions is required.
